NSCC 2009
Thank you for your interest in the Sea Cadets. The U.S. Naval Sea Cadet Corps is a nationwide organization dedicated to helping American youth realize personal success and achievement through a nautically oriented training program. There are over 300 Sea Cadet units in the United States, with units in nearly every state as well as Puerto Rico and Guam.

Through Sea Cadet leadership, cadets learn skills in basic seamanship and its naval adaptations, while also learning the value of patriotism, courage, self-reliance, teamwork, and accountability.

Membership in the Sea Cadets allows teenagers to sample military life with no obligation to join any branch of the armed forces. Should cadets decide to enlist in the Navy or Coast Guard, their training may allow them entry at an advanced pay grade. Many Sea Cadets receive scholarships and appointments to military academies. But membership in the NSCC does not imply any guarantees to these scholarships or selection to a service academy.

In Visalia the cadets of the Flying Eagles Squadron meet at the National Guard Armory. We meet during the months of September through June on Saturday and Sunday each month. (Click on the 'Calender' button at left). Our purpose is to prepare the cadets for advanced trainings available to the cadets during the summer months of June, July, and August. There is a number of training activities, each of which are generally two consecutive weeks in length.
Along with preparing the cadets for summer trainings we arrange local activities such as Marksmanship Training, Fleet Week ship tours along with local trainings at Naval Air Station Lemoore. We stress integrity and honor while providing opportunities for the cadets to assume leadershop roles in the unit. Cadets are expected to maintain academic and physical fitness standards while in the program.

We are a self funded organization; as such we need to charge a nomial entrance fee. This fee includes national fees and the outfitting the cadets with uniforms for the cadets entire career in the Sea Cadets. Each subsequent year the cadet pays a greatly reduced amount.

The staff is composed of volunteers; as such the active participation by the parents is necessary for the unit to operate. More parental envolvement results in stronger program for the cadets.
